Many health care providers are now scrambling to ensure compliance with new HIPAA rules on how private patient information is shared with business associates and vendors. In some cases, health care organizations may not even recognize exactly which of these partnerships must be covered by business associate agreements (BAAs), let alone how to ensure they’re not in violation of the Omnibus rule that took effect in September.
